Band Selection and Loading
Select a fresh band from the pack. Load the J-shaped end into the Tofflemire retainer slot with the correct orientation for the tooth quadrant being restored.

Tighten the retainer's adjustment knob to draw the band snugly around the tooth. The band should contact the tooth surface at the gingival margin without excessive gap.

Place a wooden or plastic wedge interproximally below the gingival margin to seal the band at the gingival floor and minimize flash.
